I'm about as big as Jordan fan as you'll find, seen him play in person, you'd see plaques from games and posters of him in my room since I was like 10. But it's still hard to argue his generation against the Bill Russells and Kareems.

Looking back, it's amazing to me that Jordan won what he won without a post player. To me, other than my eyes telling me he's the greatest of all time that is what separates him from Magic, Kobe, Bird, etc. He won six titles with Cartwright, Longley, and Grant. People talk about Tiger, Bonds, Pujols, Manning, Brady, and Lebron today but this guy is the greatest player I've ever seen in any sport ever. I'm with Jordan like I am the Jones brothers, I'm glad I was old enough to truly appreciate what they did.

Jordan is right at the top and I can't stand him. That said, he did win it when he never faced a team that would have sniffed a final in the 80s IMO.

I don't think Jordan is the best, as much as I hate the Lakers, I'd put Magic above him rather easily. I would put Bird ahead of Magic, because I don't think Bird was blessed with the raw ability those 2 had, but it was close and his want made him better IMO. Part of what made Jordan look that far ahead was the lack of someone else to push him. I also don't think Jordan appreciated the game or his gifts as much as he should have, which hinders him being the best. He was absolutely great and could take over the game, but the Jordan rules didn't come from nothing. It's hard to ever rank greatness, but that is the reason I guess I rank Bird and Magic ahead of him, because you did have that person to measure them against.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
Im alot younger than some of you guys so maybe thats the reason I think its Jordan..but I almost have to say hands down hes the best. Bird said so himself.
That's just the kind of guy Bird is. Bird IMO had one of the highest basketball IQ's out of any player there has ever been.
I like Jordan, Bird and Magic.
But how about Oscar Robertson? Dude averaged a triple-double one year.
Yeah and he came close to it another year...missed it by like .4 rebounds or something. Bird does have one of the highest basketball IQs ever but I still think MJ is the best ever. Bird said that after Jordan scored 60 on them in the playoffs btw
